Nicky Henshall, former Artist with English National Ballet, leads this 4-part series that start with a gentle warm-up and move into more high-impact exercises to build strength and stamina.
What you'll cover:
• A gentle warm up working through the entire body, which progresses into dynamic movement working through the legs, back and feet. This includes pliés and rises.
• The warmup is followed by glute bridges and abdominal curls.
• The next section of the class begins with step digs and curtsey pulses, transitioning into the inclusion of ballet-based movements.
• Balances on both the right and left leg: this exercise introduces the arms moving through second and third, targeting both leg and arm extensions.
• Plié and relevé movements, progressing to transferring the weight into balances on one leg. This transitions into soutés/light bounces in parallel, first, second and third position.
• A combination of forward stretches, followed by balances, toe taps and bending and stretching the supporting leg.
• Fondu’s followed by the leg brushing through first position.
• The next section of the class re-introduces dynamic movement. Soutés and spring pointes into petit jetés with port de bras. This progresses into step hops, finishing with forward stretches into a deep plié to stretch out the legs and back.
• The last section of the class includes travelling steps followed by grande battements and balances with leg lifts. This is repeated on the right and left side.
• Returning to the mat, you will be led through stretches working through the entire body in a slow cool down.
