Use your breath as a pathway to find your roots and sense of groundedness in this mindful yoga class for all levels.
This is a Hatha Flow yoga class, led by Crystal Costa (former First Soloist with English National Ballet), which works to balance body and mind through linking breath with movement. This class incorporates a mix of flexibility and strength, with an emphasis on mindfulness. The practice is suitable for all levels as all postures can be modified and adjusted. Crystal is joined by Emilia Cadorin, who is an Artist of the Company at English National Ballet.
In this class you will focus on:
Grounding through breath, using a three-part yogic breath to connect body and mind
Warming up the spine with cat-cow and gentle threading movements
Building core and shoulder strength through plank holds and modified chaturanga
Backbends including baby cobra and full cobra
A flowing sequence through downward dog, forward folds and standing poses
Standing balance postures, including Warrior II, Warrior III and Tree pose
Hip-opening and stability work through goddess pose and wide-legged forward folds
Twists and gentle spinal release, including seated twists and windshield-wiper stretches
Bridge pose to strengthen the glutes and open the chest
Finishing in savasana, focusing on stillness and relaxation
